2008 Reading List

On my 2008 reading list are 146 books. 118 of them are mysteries; 28 are other genre. I cried my way through Marley and Me(John Grogan); was fascinated at the life styles in the 4 books I read about the Aborigines; am ready to read People of the Book(Geraldine Brooks) again!; had a very hard time reading The Worst Hard Time(Timothy Egan)(I grew up in the city so did not live through these devastating dust storm years although I had heard about them from my husband who did.) I have enjoyed several of the Gears' People of the Earth series this year. I did a club book review for Whistling Season(Ivan Doig). Among my favorite mystery authors are Nevada Barr(Anna Pigeon),James Doss, Lisa Gardner, J.A. Jance(Joann Brady), both Kellermans, Sara Paretsky(V.I.Warshawsky), James Patterson(The Murder Club), and Kathy Reichs(Temperance Brennan). Right now I am reading the third book in John Jakes'Civil War Trilogy. I know I'm going to be sorry when I come to the last page because I will want to know more about these families.

Contact Zero

Contact Zero by David Wolstencroft
This is a great British spy thriller. It would make an exciting movie-I could see it unfolding as I read! A new class of M16 recruits is sent on their first mission. Each of them is attacked in some way and only four of them survive to try to find their way to Contact Zero.
